The U.S. Army Alaska’s 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, made the largest U.S. airborne mission exercise north of the Arctic Circle in more than a decade during Exercise Spartan Pegasus 2015 on this past Feb. 24.

The exercise showed the ability to rapidly insert mass power on an objective in frozen environments. Air support included two Air Force C-17 Globemaster III and two Alaska Air Guard C-130 Hercules’. They flew over 800 miles north from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, or JBER, Alaska. All jumpers and gear safely landed on the frozen tundra.
